Cool Kids Don't Break DNIs

While pretty much everyone deserves recovery and to popularize its aesthetics, we have to put ourselves and our followers safety first so please respect our boundaries and don't interact with this blog in any way (including copying or re-posting its content specifically) if:

  • You are an aesthetic blog for or reblog from blogs that are traumacore, pro ana/ED, anti-recovery, gore, untagged nsfw, or any other widely triggering imagery

  • You have or support harmful kinks such as bdsm, s&m, raceplay, and cgl(re)

  • You don't support the Black Lives Matter and ACAB movements or believe in reverse ableism

  • You are or knowingly interact with (neo-)nazis or anyone who makes antisemitic jokes or supports antisemitic youtubers etc.

  • You are an ace exclus, transmed, anti-mogai, or in any other way excluding people from the LGBT+ community (i.e bi or panphobic, against he/him or mspec lesbians, etc. etc.)

  • You are a terf/radfem

  • You ID as or knowingly interact with (NO)MAPs/PEARs or anyone who is an adult but attracted to minors in any capacity

  • You are or knowingly interact with anti-anti or proshippers (people who support incest and pedophilia so long as it is in fiction), or uses terms like shota or loli

  • If you are against or don't believe in / invalidate endogenic or parogenic systems or are against the term exotrauma/exomemories and/or don't believe fictives exist (if you don't know what those words mean don't worry it doesn't apply to you)

  • You believe that those with BPD, Narcissistic Personality disorder, Bipolar disorder, or ANY other mental illness are inherently abusive or that terms like "narcissistic abuse" are not ableist/harmful to mentally ill people

  • You are against self-diagnosis

  • You start discourse/debates unprompted, break DNIs, or send anon hate

This next list isn't a requirement to interact, but we would appreciate it if those who reblogged our posts:

  • Kept any trigger tags on the post intact (i.e if the post is tagged #medical tw, it would be nice if you could also tag it as that when reblogging)

  • Don't delete the transcription/description of images (if there is one)

Thank you for taking the time to read this list and for respecting our boundaries <3

Cool Kids Take Care & Drink Water

What this blog is about

For whatever reason, in general, humans need things to be aesthetically pleasing. So, there are now countless ways to attribute certain concepts with things that look or sound neat. This is all good and well until the things being given aesthetics are traumatic or harmful because it not only ruins the things that are attributed to it but also glorifies that thing to an extent.

This is something that we struggle with because it's much harder to avoid things that are triggering to us or fall back into bad habits or thought patterns when our brain has been tricked into attributing those things with positive sensations. So, we wanted to make a blog where recovery and self care were made to look as cool and rewarding as it is and to reclaim some of the aesthetics that we got attached to despite their not so great popular associations.

To put it in more simple terms when bad shit looks pretty the human brain goes bad = cool and fixates on that and we hate it so we're doing what we can to combat that by making a blog that makes the aesthetics we like about positive and healthy stuff instead. Gucci?

Who runs this blog

We're a plural system which means that there are multiple people within a single body (This sounds very complicated but it's fairly simple, as an analogy that will hopefully clear things up more is it's like having roommates but instead of a house/apartment they're in your brain and body)
So, our personalities, interests, and nearly everything about us varies far too much to give an accurate description of what we are like within a single bio but as for the important stuff about us as a whole/our body:

  • We use they/them pronouns collectively and as a catch all if you're unsure

  • We're over the age of 18

  • We're white, gentile, and TME

  • We're autistic and have adhd and ptsd among other things

  • Struggle with paranoia

  • Are physically disabled (unsure with what yet)

  • Have synesthesia so all our aesthetics r certified and gucci :3

Mod names and basic info are as follows (will add more as more of us post)

  • Mod Aid | She/Aer (pronounced like eye-r or air) | will be mainly the one active here/made the blog and carrd, likes pink stuff and stars

  • Mod Blue | She/they | Likes blue aesthetics and sea/beach aesthetics among other things.

General info

We take reguests and will explain the different types of posts/requests we'll do but to preface this/get the most important bits out of the way first please keep in mind the following:

  • We don't have many spoons so requests may take a while to do and we can't promise to do all of them

  • Different types of request take more or less energy and as a result we may not do them all in the order we receive them

  • We don't have a media DNI list as there's far too much media that we are uncomfortable with so instead we will just give this disclaimer: We reserve the right to reject any requests if the media or characters makes us uncomfortable

  • You can send asks that aren't requests but again we won't answer anything that makes us particularly uncomfortable and answering asks may take time, please don't feel like we are ignoring you

  • However, if you've sent an ask some time ago and still haven't gotten a response it's totally alright to send another ask to confirm that we got the first one

  • Please be patient and gentel with us as we are also still in recovery

Mood Boards & stimboards

We'll gladly make mood/aesthetic boards and stimboards please just send us an ask with the themes and/or characters you want in it. (For example: "Can I get a moodboard of Hello Kitty with themes of recovering from abuse with a lavender and pink color palette please" or "Can I get an abuse survivor stimboard with themes of witchcraft and the color green")

Playlists

Music is one of our main coping methods and we love making playlists so we're thrilled to do this. For character/media playlists the quality will vary depending on how well we know the characters however we have different options you can use to specify what kind of songs you want/need in the playlist

  • Mood songs - These are songs that while not being necessarily positive themselves are comforting in that they can be relatable (examples being Hello by Evanescence, Numb by Linkin Park, Colors by Halsey). While these aren't helpful for everyone we find them important for us so we want to include them as an option.

  • Happy Songs - Self explanatory but upbeat stuff that just gets you in a good mood (examples being Walking On Sunshine cover by Aly & AJ, Here Comes The Sun cover by Yuna, or Tomorrow from the movie Annie)

  • Comfort Songs - (usually) softer songs with inspiring or comforting lyrics, also includes most lullabies. (examples being Wanderer's Lullaby by Adrisaurus, Home from Undertale, or Everything Is Alright by Laura Shigihara)

You can also specify what vibes or genre you'd prefer for the playlist (you can even if you really want to give a challenge give colors as our synesthesia assigns colors to most music) and you can say themes and such the same as in the moodbaord and stimboard requests.

PLEASE include any triggers that might be relevant I.E topics or words that you don't want a song to include, artists that are a trigger or media that the soundtracks of are a trigger etc.

As an example format for a playlist request ("Can I have a playlist for Chara from Undertale recovering from depression with red vibes trigger is the word 'death'" or "Can I get a playlist for coping with the loss of a friend? please nothing with mentions of suicide or the band Queen")

Reminders

You know those positivity post edits of characters or photography with nice things on it like "You deserve to be loved" and "Please drink some water today"? We make those! Just tell us what you want similarly to how you would ask for a moodboard. (Example: "Reminders for people on medications from the vocaloid character Len Kagamine please" or "Can I have positivity reminders for CSA survivors with a space aesthetic and the color lavender please?")

Icons & Headers

We'll edit characters onto mental health and neurodivergent flags as well as our recovery core flag (and we'll do lgbt+ pride combos with them if you'd like but we won't do lgbt+ stuff on it's own just because that's not the focus of the blog) so feel free to send us those as well. (Example: "Please do icons of Rapunzel from Tangled with the ADHD and recovery core flags")

(The recovery core flag below)

Suggestions & Advice

If there's anything not on here that you think would be neat to see on this blog please do send us an ask to suggest it and we might do it. The only thing rn we're pretty sure we won't make are anything to do with reader-insert headcanons or whatever since this isn't the right kind of blog for that.

You can also ask for advice or vent in our inbox (within reason, please don't treat us like therapists because we don't have the qualifications for that) so long as you add any trigger warnings that might be needed at the beginning of the ask(s) so we can stay safe and remember we can only give advice from our experiences and stuff. This isn't the purpose of the blog though so it may take longer to answer asks like that. You can also send asks just to chat or ask questions but again those might take a while or if a question is too personal we might not answer it.

Please don't send discourse unless we reblogged something from someone on our DNI unknowingly or something. You can also message us but please don't expect an immediate answer or request things through our messages.
